Our senior cooking club takes over the catering at the Berlin Seniors' Week 2024

For the second time, Kochschule Neun, in cooperation with the AWO Begegnungszentrum and the Wassertor multi-generational house, organised the catering for the opening event of Berlin Seniors' Week, which took place in the America Memorial Library. This year, the anniversary event was held under the motto ‘Shaping the future together’ and offered a varied programme that focused on the interests and needs of older people.

In addition to the culinary accompaniment, we presented our project ‘Zusammen is(s)t man weiniger allein / Together you eat less alone’. This format shows how cooking and eating together can bring older people together to promote dialogue, community and a conscious approach to food.

The opening event provided an ideal platform to present the project's approach and successes. At the Market of Opportunities, in which 85 institutions, organisations and associations were involved, visitors were able to discover numerous offers for older citizens.

The presence of Cansel Kiziltepe, Senator for Labour, Social Affairs, Equality, Integration, Diversity and Anti-Discrimination of the State of Berlin, also underlined the relevance of the Berlin Seniors' Week as an important forum for networking and shaping the future.

Kochschule Neun is proud to be part of this event and to contribute to strengthening the community and quality of life by combining enjoyment and education.
