Cooking with HWR Berlin students
Since July 2024, Kochschule Neun has been working with the General Students' Committee (AStA) of the Berlin School of Economics and Law (HWR Berlin) to offer students workshops on the topics of sustainable nutrition, health and community. The collaboration kicked off with an inspiring workshop centred around the Planetary Health Diet - a concept that combines ecological and health aspects.
The kick-off event focussed on a menu based on pulses. These little powerhouses not only offer an impressive variety of culinary possibilities, but are also a key component of a sustainable diet. Under the guidance of the Neun cookery school, the students experienced how lentils, chickpeas and beans can be used to conjure up healthy dishes that also conserve resources.
But the workshop was more than just a cookery course: it was about exchanging ideas and reflecting on the connections between nutrition, climate protection and personal health. While cooking and eating together, questions such as: ‘How do our eating habits affect the environment?’, ‘What role does regional and seasonal nutrition play?’ and ‘How can sustainable eating also be practicable in everyday student life?’ were discussed.
