During our last visit to the Kuhhorst organic farm with pupils from the Rosa Parks Primary School, we were presented with a sponsorship for Monika the cow. The local press was also present at the ceremonial handover by our long-standing partners. The Märkische Allgemeine reported on the day’s events. We are delighted to be taking on the first sponsorship at Kuhhorst!

To provide some background: at the end of 2024, the Kuhhorst organic farm ceased its milk production after 35 years for economic reasons. Some of the particularly friendly dairy cows were kept to take on new roles as ‘cuddle partners’ and sponsored cows.

Monika the cow plays a special role as the first sponsored cow. The first sponsorship goes to the Kochschule Neun, which regularly organises educational trips to the organic farm with primary school children as part of its Ernährungswochen (nutrition weeks).

“Our trips to Kuhhorst are always a real adventure for the children. Sponsoring Monika makes that connection tangible. It shows just how closely agriculture, education and responsibility are linked,” says Anna from the Kochschule Neun.

Dennis Kuck, manager of the organic farm, also emphasises Monika’s new role: “Through this sponsorship, we are recognising our close collaboration with the Kochschule Neun and demonstrating that animal welfare and education go hand in hand. Monika the cow symbolises the transformation of our farm.”

You can find more information about cuddling cows and the sponsorship schemes on the Kuhhorster website.
