We save food collectively
A recap of our Disco Soup
To mark the Berlin Food Rescue Day and to kick off World Senior Citizens’ Day, we invited our younger and older neighbours to join us at Markthalle Neun for a communal chopping session using rescued food. With the ‘Schnippeldisko’ (Disco Soup), we built on a format that has its origins in the Slow Food movement and which also took place for the first time at Markthalle Neun. We turned the many kilos of fruit and vegetables into two large pots of soup, various salad creations and roasted vegetable dips. Meanwhile, people swayed to the rhythm of the music and exchanged plenty of ideas on cooking methods and recipes. The Verbraucherzentrale (Berlin Consumer Advice Centre) provided plenty of information leaflets to take away.
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Foodsharing, MultiKulti, Beet & Baum, Sironi, Bao Gao Club, Mamas Küche and the AWO Community Centre on Adalbertstraße for food donations and support.
